Questions people actually ask
Something else on your mind? Ask us. A real person reads every message.
General
See something wrong, missing, or otherwise erroneous?
Send us a message! We at Coaster Collector know that this is a team effort - from rating experiences to entering photo contests, we encourage all users to participate. Go to the Contact Form to send us a message.
Your account
Do I have to use my real name?
No – In fact we discourage you to do that altogether. You pick a pseudonym when you sign up, and it's the only identity anyone else on the app ever sees. We ask for an email for account recovery, but it's never shown publicly.
Can I delete my account later?
Yes, anytime, from your profile settings. Your personal profile and pseudonym are removed completely; your experience counts stay folded into the app's overall totals, fully anonymized.
Who can see my profile?
You decide, in your profile settings. Your profile can be open to the public, open only to people who are signed in, or private.
You can also hide parts of it, like your avatar, the dates of your rides, your recent rides, your stats and badges, and your comments.
Is there an app to download?
Not yet. Coaster Collector is a website built to work on your phone as well as a computer, so there's nothing to install: open it in your phone's browser. To open it like an app, add it to your home screen from your browser's menu.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
On the sign-in page, choose the "Forgot password" tab and enter your email. We'll send you a link to choose a new password. The link works for an hour, and using it signs you out everywhere else.
Collecting
Which parks are supported right now?
We're starting with Universal Orlando – Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida – with more parks and brands being added by our team over time.
How do I log a ride?
Open the experience, from Experiences, the map or a search, and choose "Add to collection". Each time you ride it again, choose "Ride again": every ride counts, repeats included, toward your badges.
Can I log rides from before I joined?
Yes. On the experience's page, choose "Log a previous ride" and pick the day you rode it. Any day back to 1990 works, so you can fill in years of park visits.
What happens when an experience closes for good?
It stays in the catalog and in your collection. Choose "Log when you rode it" and pick the day to add it, and you can still rate it and comment on it.
Can I still log a seasonal event after it ends?
Yes. Haunted houses, holiday shows and other event experiences stay in the catalog after the event closes. Log the night you went by picking its date.
I logged a ride by mistake. Can I undo it?
Right after you log a repeat ride, choose Undo on the message that appears. To take a ride out of your collection completely, open its page and choose "Remove from completed items".
That removes every time you logged it, along with your rating and comments on it, and can't be undone.
Can I just check off all rides even if I haven't experienced them?
Sure... but why would you do that? That doesn't sound fun at all.
Cost
Is it really free?
Yes. Every feature – check-ins, badges, bucket lists, the leaderboard are all free.
Badges and avatars
How do I earn badges?
Badges unlock on their own as you log rides: a number of rides or parks, every ride at one park, one favorite ridden again and again, and more. Each is bronze, silver or gold, from easiest to hardest.
Badges are worked out from your log, so if you remove the rides a badge was earned with, that badge goes too until you earn it again.
What are avatars, and how do I get more?
Your avatar is the picture beside your pseudonym on your profile, your ratings and your comments. Every avatar is earned in one of two ways: by riding a particular experience, or by taking part in the community (commenting, rating, sharing lists and more). Once one is yours, it stays yours.
Pick the one you wear on the Avatars page.
How do I earn avatars?
Each avatar on the Avatars page says what it takes. Every one is earned in one of these ways:
• Riding a particular experience: log that one ride, once. • Commenting on rides. • Rating rides. • Commenting on rides at a number of different parks. • Putting posts on the Feed. • Sharing lists. • Getting a ride description you wrote accepted. • Winning photo contests.
None is earned just for the number of rides you've logged. You don't have to claim anything: once you've done what an avatar asks, it's given to you automatically.
Why does an avatar only count activity at one park or brand?
Avatars belong to a park or brand, and the Avatars page lists them under it. Only what you do there counts. A Universal avatar for 25 comments needs 25 comments on Universal rides, and a Volcano Bay one needs a comment on a Volcano Bay ride. Comments on other parks' rides count toward their own avatars instead.
How do I earn an avatar for a particular ride?
Log that ride once. The first time it's in your collection, the avatar is yours. Repeat rides don't earn it again, and it doesn't matter when you rode it, so logging a ride from years ago counts too.
What counts as a post on the Feed?
Every ride you log, every rating and comment, and every list you share (open to everyone or to signed-in collectors). Avatars and badges you earn show on the Feed too, but they don't count toward avatars.
For an avatar tied to a park or brand, only posts about it count: its rides logged, rated or commented on, and shared lists with at least one of its rides in them.
Posts still count if you keep your activity off the Feed in your privacy settings.
I've done what an avatar asks. Why don't I have it yet?
Most avatars arrive the moment you log a ride, rate or comment. A few are checked a little later: those for sharing lists and for ride descriptions or photos that an admin accepts are given the next time you open the app or your Avatars page.
If one still hasn't arrived, check its details on the Avatars page, which shows how far along you are. For an avatar tied to a park or brand, only activity there counts.
Can I lose an avatar I've earned?
No. Once you've earned an avatar it stays yours, even if you later delete the ratings, comments, rides or lists that earned it.
The only exception is if we retire an avatar. It's hidden from everyone, and if you were wearing it you go back to your initial until you choose another.
Ratings and comments
How do ratings work?
Once you've logged a ride, you can rate it from 1 to 10, and score the parts that matter for that kind of ride too if you like. A ride's average shows once enough collectors have rated it.
After rating a ride, you can leave a comment on it for other collectors to read.
Photo contests
What are photo contests?
Some experiences run a photo contest: send in your best photo of the ride, and choose how you're credited, by your pseudonym, your name, words of your own, or not at all.
The winning photo becomes the picture at the top of that experience's page, with your credit on it, and winning counts toward badges and avatars. See what's open on the Contests page.
The Feed
What shows up on the Feed?
The Feed shows what collectors are up to, newest first: the rides they log, their ratings and comments, the badges and avatars they earn, and the lists they share. You always see all of your own activity there too.
Each collector's privacy settings decide what of theirs others see. Private lists never show, and nothing from a private profile ever does.
How do I keep my activity off the Feed?
In your profile settings, under privacy, turn off "Show my activity on the Feed". Other collectors will no longer see anything you do there, and you'll still see all of your own.
You can also keep just some of it off. Anything you hide from your profile stays off the Feed too: hide your recent rides or ride dates and your rides won't show, hide your stats and your badges and avatars won't, and keep your comments off your profile and they won't either. A private profile keeps everything off it.
Who is "Anonymous Collector" on the Feed?
A collector who has chosen to hide their name on their profile. Their activity can still show on the Feed, but without their pseudonym, their avatar or a link to their profile, so nobody can tell who they are.
To appear that way yourself, hide your name in your profile's privacy settings.
